These are words that may be said without understanding the true nature of the energy behind them. They are used usually during the marriage ceremony, but they can be applied to any close relationship, romantic or otherwise.
‘Better’ and ‘worse’ are terms that can be interpreted in many ways.
What does ‘better’ mean? Typically, people think that it means when life is rosy, and things are working well. Yes of course it includes this, however what may be deemed ‘better’ by one person - for example they may be going through a period of growth - may be quite challenging for another person, and it may not feel ‘better’ for them.
What does ‘worse’ mean? People tend to think it refers to times when life is hard; and again of course it can be applied to this. However, some of the ‘worst’ times may be the most helpful in people's lives - when they have a challenge that they need to overcome, so they need to become a higher vibration version of themselves to be able to do this. This means it may not be ‘worse’ it may ultimately be ‘better’.
What we are saying is that when you commit to a close relationship of any form, there will be ups and downs for the people involved. The perceived ups and downs may vary between the people in the relationship where one may be having an ‘up’ and the other a ‘down’, however you choose to define these.
So our message is that when you have chosen to be in a close relationship with someone, you are there for all of them, for every aspect of them, for every aspect of yourself, and how these parts play out over the period of time you are in a relationship.
There is a saying we hear you use “There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so”, and we would tend to agree with this. It's useful to avoid labelling issues that you have within the relationship as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and instead see them as life experiences that call on different aspects of your person to deal with them.
This is the beautiful complexity that is human life. This is life. It's better, it's worse, it's good, it's bad … it's everything. Move away from the labels and commit to travelling on a wonderful journey within your relationship, knowing that you have the wherewithal to bring out the abilities you need to live this relationship to the fullest.
